periodontal abscess

periodontal abscess [Gk, peri, around, odous, tooth; L, abscedere, to go away] , an infection in the area around a tooth. It is usually classified according to its location in the periodontal tissues, such as lateral, lateral alveolar, parietal, or peridental.
