para

para /par″ə/ [L, parere, to bear] , a woman who has produced an infant, regardless of whether the child was alive or stillborn. The term is used with numerals to indicate the number of pregnancies carried to more than 20 weeks’ gestation, such as para 2, indicating two pregnancies. See also nullipara, parity.
