oleic acid

oleic acid /ōlē″ik/ [L, oleum, oil, acidus, sour] , a colorless, monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid occurring in almost all natural fats. It is a liquid at room temperature. Commercial oleic acid is used in soaps, cosmetics, ointments, lubricants, and food additives.
