antiplatelet agent

antiplatelet agent /-plāt″lit/ , therapeutic agent that inhibits platelet function. Often employed to prevent clot propagation or secondary thrombosis in patients who have had a primary arterial thrombolytic event such as acute myocardial infarction, peripheral artery disease, or cerebrovascular accident.
