nanism /nā″nizəm, nan″-/ [Gk, nanos, dwarf] , an abnormal smallness or underdevelopment of the body; growth failure. Also called nanosomia. Kinds include mulibrey nanism, Paltauf’s nanism, renal nanism, senile nanism, symptomatic nanism.
