myotome /mī″ətōm/ [Gk, mys + temnein, to cut] , 1. the muscle plate of an embryonic somite that develops into a voluntary muscle. Also called myomere. 2. a group of muscles innervated by a single spinal segment. 3. an instrument for cutting or dissecting a muscle.
