microcytosis

microcytosis /mī′krōsītō″sis/ [Gk, mikros + kytos + osis, condition] , a hematologic condition characterized by erythrocytes that are smaller than normal. Microcytosis is found in iron deficiency anemia. Compare poikilocytosis. See also anisocytosis. −microcytic, adj.
