median (med)

median (med) /mē″dē·ən/ [L, medius, middle] , (in statistics) the number representing the middle value of the scores in a sample. In an odd number of scores arrayed in ascending order, it is the middle score. In an even number of scores so arrayed, it is the average of the two central scores.
