McBurney’s incision

McBurney’s incision /makbur″nēz/ [Charles McBurney, American surgeon, 1845–1913] , a surgical wound that begins 2 to 5 cm above the anterior superior iliac spine and runs parallel to the external oblique muscle of the abdomen. This incision is used for an appendectomy.
