lingualis leukoplakia

lingualis leukoplakia [L, lingua, tongue; Gk, leukos, white, plax, plate] , a chronic inflammatory lesion characterized by smooth, thick white patches on the surface of the tongue, generally attributed to excessive use of alcohol and tobacco. The lesions may be a precursor of epithelioma.
