linear scleroderma

linear scleroderma, a type of localized scleroderma in which there are bands or lines of thickened skin, especially on the arms and legs, caused by the deposition of collagen. At times it extends into muscle. It often interferes with joint function. Compare morphea. See also localized scleroderma.
