lariat structure

lariat structure /ler″ē·ət/ , a ring of intron segments that has been spliced out of a messenger ribonucleic acid molecule by enzymes. Some introns form a long tail attached to the ring, giving the structure the appearance of a microscopic cowboy lariat.
