Lactobacillus (L)

Lactobacillus (L) /lak′tōbəsil″əs/ [L, lac + bacillum, small rod] , any one of a group of nonpathogenic gram-positive rod-shaped bacteria that produce lactic acid from carbohydrates. Many species are normally found in the human intestinal tract and vagina.
