isoetharine mesylate /ī′sō·eth″ərēn/ , a beta-adrenergic bronchodilator. 
INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the treatment of bronchial asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. CONTRAINDICATIONS: A history of cardiac arrhythmia or known hypersensitivity to this drug or to sympathomimetic medications prohibits its use. ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the more serious adverse effects are palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, vertigo, nervousness, and headache.
