inosine

inosine /in″əsēn, -sīn/ , a nucleoside derived from animal tissue, especially intestines, originally used in food processing and flavoring. It has been used in the treatment of cardiac disorders and is now under investigation in studies of cancer and virus chemotherapy. See also inosiplex.
