hyoglossal /hī′ō-glos″əl/ [Gk, hyoeides, upsilon, U-shaped; glossa, tongue] , pertaining to the tongue and the horseshoe-shaped hyoid bone at the base of the tongue immediately above the thyroid cartilage. Also called glossohyal.
