helminthiasis /hel′minthī″əsis/ [Gk, helmins, worm, osis, condition] , a parasitic infestation of the body by helminths that may be cutaneous, visceral, or intestinal. Ascariasis, bilharziasis, filariasis, hookworm, and trichinosis are common forms of the disease.
