haptoglobin test

haptoglobin test, a blood test primarily used to detect hemolysis, the intravascular destruction of red blood cells. Abnormally low levels of haptoglobin may indicate hemolytic anemias, whereas high levels are found in primary liver disease, many inflammatory diseases, acute myocardial infarction, and some cancers.
