gastroparesis

gastroparesis /-pərē″sis/ , 1. paralysis of the stomach. 2. failure of the stomach to empty caused by decreased gastric motility. The major causes are various kinds of abdominal inflammation, scleroderma, diabetic autonomic neuropathy, vagotomy, and the use of anticholinergic medications.
