ground itch

ground itch, pruritic papules and/or urticarial vesiculopustular lesions secondary to penetration of the skin by hookworm larvae. The condition is prevalent in tropical and subtropical climates and may be prevented by wearing shoes and by establishing sanitary disposal of feces. See also hookworm.
