glia cells

glia cells /glī″ə, glē″ə/ [Gk, glia, glue; L, cella, storeroom] , neural cells that have a connective-tissue-supporting function in the central nervous system. Examples include astrocytes and oligodendroglial cells of ectodermal origin and microglial cells of mesodermal origin.
