fungemia

fungemia /funjē″mē·ə/ [L, fungus + Gk, haima, blood] , the presence of fungi in the blood, mostly seen in immunocompromised patients. Diagnosis is difficult because routine blood cultures have poor sensitivity. Compare bacteremia, parasitemia, viremia.
