Francisella

Francisella, a genus of nonmotile, nonspore-forming gram-negative aerobic bacteria that is a facultative intracellular pathogen of macrophages. Frequently found in natural waters, it can be parasitic in humans, other mammals, birds, and arthropods. The organism causes tularemia in humans.
