fogged film fault

fogged film fault /fogd/ [Dan, spray + AS, filmen, membrane; L, fallere, to deceive] , a defect in a photograph or radiograph that appears as a foggy area. It is usually caused by stray light or radiation, use of expired film, or an unsafe darkroom light. See also artifact.
