Epstein’s pearls

Epstein’s pearls [Alois Epstein, Czechoslovakian physician, 1849–1918; L, perla, a mussel] , small, white pearl-like epithelial cysts that occur on both sides of the midline of the hard palate of the newborn. They are normal and usually disappear within a few weeks. Compare Bednar’s aphthae, thrush.
