dynamic splint

dynamic splint [Gk, dynamis, force; D, splinte] , any brace or orthosis that incorporates springs, elastic bands, or other materials that produces a constant active force on a joint or joints and the surrounding tissue to increase joint range of motion or to compensate for loss of movement following muscle paresis or paralysis.
