direct Coombs’ test

direct Coombs’ test, a blood test performed to identify hemolysis or to investigate hemolytic transfusion reactions. This test demonstrates whether the patient’s red blood cells have been attacked by antibodies in the patient’s own bloodstream. Compare indirect Coombs’ test.
