diffusion coefficient

diffusion coefficient, the number of milliliters of a gas that will diffuse at a distance of 0.001 mm over a square centimeter surface per minute, at one atm of pressure. The diffusion coefficient for any given gas is proportional to the solubility and molecular weight of the gas. See coefficient.
