Dermacentor /dur′məsen″tər/ , a widely distributed genus of ticks in the family Ixodidae, including a number that infest humans and other mammals. Several are vectors of diseases such as Colorado tick fever, anaplasmosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, tularemia, and brucellosis.
