dentin

dentin /den″tin/ [L, dens] , the chief material of teeth, consisting of calcium phosphate, surrounding the pulp and situated inside the enamel and cementum. Harder and denser than bone, it consists of solid organic substratum infiltrated with lime salts. Nerves course throughout its structure. Also spelled dentine.
