definitive prosthesis

definitive prosthesis, a permanent prosthetic device that replaces an immediate-fit appliance such as a pylon. In some cases a definitive prosthesis is used only when full weight-bearing on an artificial limb is feasible, which may follow amputation by 6 weeks or longer.
